First Frag

Hey guys and gals.  I wanted to introduce you to my weekly blog I’m going to start doing for the REST of my LIFE…   Well, maybe I’ll take some sick days if I’m not feeling well, but most likely I’m going to try to commit to writing a blog weekly about gaming, players, experiences, and all the above.  Most importantly, I will be trying to interact with you…  I’ll want to hear what you have to say and try to answer the crazy irrational questions and the more common questions as well.  But I will do my best to make it entertaining and exciting for all, and sometimes very knowledgeable and educational.

So lets get some ideas flowing, please post some comments and ask ANY question you want…  I’m ready to take this on.  I typically haven’t done this in the past, I’ve always tried to stay a little quiet behind the scenes and let my game do the talking…  I never posted comments on sites or anything my whole career just because I was afraid to get in the mix with all the people arguing etc in comments section.  I’m a very real person, but also I’m nuts about playing video games and playing them the best way possible.  I’m always trying to find the angle and/or edge and that’s what I plan on sharing with you here on my blog.  Lets get this started…

Hey Fatal1ty, I’d like to ask how are you dealing with nervosity and stress when playing tournaments. Sometimes my hands start to jitter and I am feeling more tense than relaxed. Would be nice if you could share some tips !

Hi Fatal1ty, always wondered…do you play games online with the public under a secret alias?

Does being the most famous gamer in the world provide you access to developers to see up close how games are made?

any cool stories from the past that you wanna share?

will you be at Quakecon this year?

Hey guys… nice to see some comments here. Plan on answering a lot of your questions while i’m on the road or wherever…

S1d3W1nd3r24x7: I want to compete of course. This is natural thing for me to do and I love doing it. Training, practicing, being with the guys and everything. Right now just waiting for some big tournaments and seriously competitive games to come out.

Tyler: I hop on LA servers sometimes. I use my real nickname, Fatal1ty.

Dopefish: i like crossing my legs to keep my jitters down in my legs, also staying warm by wearing warm clothes keeps my hands from shaking. since we’re not running around like athletes, we still need to stay warm to make sure everything working smoothly. It’s helped me a lot to deal with any nerves. Also being prepared helps too :)

fausto412: I play on public servers a lot in different games, and sometimes use nicknames so i don’t get hassled. I like to play games for fun as well and be a goofball with close friends. So doing that, I usually use a weird nickname that is madeup within a few seconds before going on to frag :) As for seeing games before they’re released, that sometimes happens. I get to give a little input here and there, which is nice. As for stories, I have endless ammount of crazy stories, maybe next blog i’ll write some…

As for all your guys questions, thanks. I’ll try to hit up in my blog in more detail about your questions… gotta go now.. working on getting my place fixed up here in las vegas. i’m making like a 4-5 man LAN center in my gaming room. So gotta get this going… Latez.

    hey fatal1ty,
I never heard of you, jk haha
but seriously I never heard of you till I saw your headset for sale somewhere. I am somewhat envious of you, I was wondering, when you first started competing and won your first tournament playing was it quake3 or 4? what was your home pc like? did you have the best that was around, how good was it compared to what was out there.
I just wonder because I’m on a very small budget and I don’t think I’ll ever be pro with too low fps or even internet connection. all the local shops don’t do tournaments anymore, everyone plays Warcraft 3, I’m an old school counterstrike player. It doesn’t take a lot to run it, I know.
I’m really surprised to hear how many people dislike you. Friends say that you aren’t really as good as you appear to be and I laugh. Though its always more spectacular to see you frag a lot in person.
So once again, what was your computer like compared to what was available at the time before your first big win?

Hey, again..sorry for spamming :p I realized I remember hearing you talking about the ‘Championship’ series headphones in some interview. Any idea when they might get released and how much will they differ from the ‘professional’ series? Thanks for info.

    Hey Andrew…

Thanks for the question. Actually my first PC was built strictly on Bang for the Buck concept. I didn’t have much money, so i saved up a ton and bought one of Intel’s Celeron chips for under $100… It was 300mhz and with an ABIT BH-6 Motherboard, I was able to overclock it to about 450 mhz! Which gave me about 15 more Frames Per Second in Quake 3. This was awesome, because framerates are a big deal in getting the kill… I went on to game on that for a long time till I won some money from competing. I eventually bought another celeron 700 mhz and overclocked it to almost 900 mhz I believe. This was a killer machine for Quake 3. I got 120fps solid all the time and never dropped a frame. This is when I played my best from home.

So if your trying to buy a pc right now, I would look into always bang for the buck. Buy good enough to hold you over in all the games, and especially focus on the game you play. Thats what will determine how much you need and want. But if you buy the right CPU chip and the right Motherboard, then the cost effective graphic card, you will get a sick machine for sure! Also make sure you get good RAM as well, because being able to overclock that is also essential in gaining the higher speeds you need to get the more frames!

Hope this helps ya out man. latez.

    Hey Fatal1ty
Record timing on the reply JW, guys that’s why there’s a lightning in your logo hahaha
Seriously though, where did that lightning originate from?
I currently am running a p4 3.0ghz system with a motherboard that supports 2 gigs of ram, running only 1.5gbs, 200gb hdd, nvidia 5200fx 128mb (lol right?), onboard sound.
The motherboard is running AGP, I was wondering, do you think my system will perform well with the won’t name any companies, but the HD3850 AGP 512 gddr3 graphics?
I dont know how comparable this computer is to my old amd 3200 2.0 ghz machine. Another thing, to play games, should I even have updated my computer? because it seems to load slower after installing sp2 on windows xp and a bunch of other updates.
ps fatal1ty, i requested your autograph, so please FATAL1TY, WARRIORIZE MY WALL ^^

My logo is actually a combination of storms that happen in my state where I grew up…

In Missouri we have a lot of lightning and tornadoes. So I created a logo to show both of those coming together to make a “F” for Fatal1ty.

I really love my state where I grew up and never wanted to lose the Missouri in me, always be honest and polite to others. Always show respect to your elders and just try to be a solid person in life. I feel being from Missouri has really helped me a lot going through all the emotions I have went through in gaming and in life.

I always like formatting my PC and doing FRESH installs of WinXP sp2 or whatever. I’m running on a beast now though, so running Windows 7 Ultimate and actually enjoying it immensely. So I say to you, format that badboy and do fresh install on it! I formatted my PC probably every 6 months. Best of luck man in your gaming and take care. Email info@fatal1ty.com for signature, and I imagine we’ll try to get something out to you.
